Silly Black Cat Myths
A black cat is often associated with misfortune and demise. This notion originated from the medieval era, where animals of dark colors such as crows and ravens were symbolic of death. During the 16th century in Italy, the presence of a black cat near a sick person's bed was considered an omen of imminent death. Conversely, in the realm of theater, spotting a black cat on the opening night was believed to bring good fortune and ensure a lengthy and prosperous run for the play. In ancient Egypt, black cats were highly esteemed and were thought to embody Bastet, the Goddess of fertility and childbirth.
